Waterstown Park Run March 2016

On Saturday March 12th we’ll take part the Waterstown Parkrun, this is a great opportunity for anyone who hasn’t raced before, it’s a 5K race that’s free to enter you just need to register beforehand. It’s not too far from the park so we’ll head back there afterwards for the usual coffee and scones.

Check out the pictures from when we took part in the St. Anne’s Parkrun

I’ll send out more info closer to the date, but put it in your calendar 🙂 There’ll be a run on as normal in the park for anyone who’s not attending.

Wicklow Way Relay 2016

Wicklow Way Poster 2016We are looking to see if we can get a DFR team for the IMRA Wicklow Way Relay (https://www.imra.ie/events/details/id/1354/) on Saturday, 21st May. It is an ambitious challenge – it involves running a relay team from Dublin to Carlow on 127km of trails through Wicklow Mountains. Expect lots of great scenery and a fun chatting to all the other teams taking part. There are a variety of relay legs from 8km to 21km – all fairly hilly (but some hillier than others). We plan to organise a taster trail group jog on 20 February, let us know if you’re interested.

10 Mile Race Series 2015

Thanks to Ronan to collating the results from last week’s race 🙂

Well done to all DFRs who completed the Frank Duffy 10 miles in the Park last Saturday 22 Aug.  Lots of great times with plenty of PBs – Richard’s coaching and training programmes, plus lots of hard work, are certainly paying off!

Irish Milers IMC vs BMC Mile Sponsorship

Dublin Frontrunners will be sponsoring this years Irish Milers IMC vs BMC Mile, it’s an opportunity to support athletics and to highlight the activities of our club. From the IMC;

Run the Mile With Pride.

IMC Logo BlueThe Irish Milers Club announces the sponsorship of the Dublin Front Runners for the upcoming IMC v BMC Mile in the Morton Games July 24th. Without the help of the Dublin Front Runners the IMC would be unable to put on this prestigious mile event in the Morton Games. In turn we hope that this link up with the IMC highlights the activities of the Dublin Front Runners and its aims to our athletic community.

The Dublin Front Runners mission is to provide a healthy, athletic and social experience to the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans runners ( LGBT) community.

Roundstone Bay 8K 2015

The 5th annual Roundstone Bay 8K takes place on the 16th May in the heart of Connemara. The course itself consists of a figure of eight loop, beginning and ending in Roundstone village, and taking in some spectacular coastal views along the way. Both runners and walkers are welcome and the organisers have endured to put on an event that will cater to all types of participant. Proceeds from the race will go towards the local RNLI Lifeboat service, a hugely worthwhile charity that relies entirely on donations and fundraising to ensure its viability.

Saturday Run

Our run this morning is from the War Memorial Gardens in Islandbridge instead of the park, meet near the Islandbridge entrance, see below, usual time of 10am.

Google Maps

5 Mile Race

If you’re doing the 5 Mile in the park this morning, the meeting point is the bag drop area at 9:30am, good luck to everyone running.

Brunch

Instead of scones after the run (I hear a sign of disappointment) we’ll be having a fabulous brunch and some bubbles in Bleaker St on Dorset St for anyone marching with the club today. Meet there from 11:30am before we move to Parnell Square to assemble for the march.

Pride March

We’re meeting outside the Hugh Lane Gallery at 12:30pm to assemble for the March, don’t forget to wear a DFR t-shirt for the march either your singlet, running top, Pride Run or Yes Equality t-shirt.

I’ve also emptied the DFR safety deposit box and will have all our good jewellry so share around.

Happy Pride
