Bon soir mes amis, as promised, here’s a (sanitised) update of our recent trip to Nice….
Nice half & 10k
Nice Front Runners kindly hosted about a large contingent of international Front Runners from Dublin, Marseilles, Frankfurt, Cologne and Paris for their local half-marathon and 10k last Sunday (27 April).
We had 26 representatives from DFR travelling (including non-running supporters), which was a fantastic turnout and it created a great impression of DFR and Dublin.
Our results were:
| Nom | Prénom | Course | Résultat |
| Chambers | Andy | 21 km | 01:34:47 |
| Bamming | Patrick | 21 km | 01:35:08 |
| Van der Worp | Joachim | 21 km | 01:39:24 |
| Prendergast | David | 21 km | 01:40:25 |
| Coterell | John | 21 km | 01:41:54 |
| Buckley | Ray | 21 km | 01:51:35 |
| Tierney | Kieran | 21 km | 01:52:11 |
| Hughes | Alan | 21 km | 01:53:36 |
| MacMuiris | Ronan | 21 km | 01:53:38 |
| Fox | Eddie | 21 km | 01:54:00 |
| Curran | Gregory | 21 km | 01:55:09 |
| Da Silva | Luiz | 21 km | 01:58:37 |
| McLoughlin | Seamus | 21 km | 02:02:51 |
| Crowley | Tom | 21 km | 02:07:48 |
| McCarthy | Dermot | 10 km | 00:45:58 |
| Kennedy | Richard | 10 km | 01:01:51 |
| Lonergan | Pat | 10 km | 01:04:39 |
Lots of first-timers at the distances above, a few PBs, a few carrying injury, so well done to all, and congrats to Andy and Dermot as first DFRs home.
The men’s half was won in an incredible time of 1.01.31 by the Kenyan Kenedy Kipyeko, the women’s in 1.11.01 by Kenyan Janet Kisa.
The men’s 10k was won in 31.12 by Daniel Nash (not a Kenyan!) and women’s Karima Kherroubi in 36.53.
After a great club dinner, we adjourned to local club Glam for an after-race party hosted by Nice Front Runners, and embarrassingly walked away with lots of the prizes on offer, for first Front Runner home, ultimate (as in last, not extreme) Front Runner home and a few other categories. After a few quiet sherries, everyone was home and in bed by midnight….
What goes on tour stays on tour; however it it is worth noting that notwithstanding 40+ years of EU membership, millions of litres of Beaujolais consumed, and French Leaving Cert, a near-catastrophic linguistic misunderstanding took place when no fewer than five supposedly intelligent DFRs, tired after their race, failed to translate a warning sign in the hotel lift that stated “max 3 personnes 225kg”, with the result that a cute but very disgruntled lift technician had to be called out on a Sunday for an emergency lift rescue. You can guess who it was….
Thanks to Nice Front Runners for hosting, and to our supporters who lined the route to cheer us on, all made for a brilliant weekend away.
Roll on our foreign trip 2015!
