Location Change & 10 Mile

imageThis Saturday is the Frank Duffy 10 mile in the park, so we’ll move our Saturday run to Irishtown Stadium. Usual time of 10 am meeting in Irishtown Stadium car park, we’ll go to Browns in Sandymount afterwards for food.

For the 10 Mile Race, DFR’s should meet at the Papal Cross car park at 9am for a few pictures, then head to he bag drop and start line.

With less than two weeks to go here is the latest

The IMC have 7 race slots at this famous meet , six 800m races (4 men’s and 2 women’s) and a 1500m men’s race .

The following is an approximation of race times:-
5.40 to 6.10 Men’s B,C,D and Women’s A and B
6.45 Men’s A race
7.15 1500m featuring IMC v BMC match

Men’s 800 Kieran Kelly, Kevin McGrath and Elliot Slade (Wales)
Women’s 800m Kelly Neely, Fiona Kehoe and Rose Finnegan
Men’s 1500 James O’Hare, Cormac Kelly, Richie Owens, Eric Keogh. Representing the BMC will be Jack Hallas, Kevin Bell, Cameron Field and Joe Wilkinson

1500m We will accept entries from athletes who have run FASTER than 4 minutes this year.
800m Men. Run 1.59 or faster this year
800m Women Run 2.30 or faster this year
In addition to these standards you must have entered an IMC meet this year or last OR be a member of the BMC

REMEMBER WE WILL CLOSE ENTRIES ONCE FIELDS ARE FULL. So really, yes you’ve guessed, you need to enter now!!

Berlin 2016 Details

Berlin 2015 PosterWe have nearly 30 runners heading to Berlin this weekend for the half on Sunday, I’ve put together all the info you need on the events page on our website;

Important points

  • Collect you number Friday or Saturday, and bring the right documents
  • Meeting at 8:45/9am on the morning of the race @ Berlin Congress Center
  • Wear your DFR singlet please
  • Dinner booked for 6pm Sunday @ Brauhaus Lemke
  • Stay out of trouble… or at least don’t get photographed 🙂

You should have received an email requesting In Case of Emergency contact details from the organisers, in light of recent events ensure you complete this please.

Anyone who needs a singlet let me know and I will bring one for you, I won’t have a stock of them with me so you need to let me know in advance.

AAI National 10km Championship

Great Ireland LogoSunday April 10th is the AAI National 10Km Championship, it’s an important race on the AAI calendar and it would be great to get as many DFR’s out running for the club as possible.AAI Logo

It’s run as part of the Great Ireland run, but you register separately as an AAI athlete, you’ll need your AAI number for this and Regina our secretary can give this to you.

Waterstown Park Run March 2016

On Saturday March 12th we’ll take part the Waterstown Parkrun, this is a great opportunity for anyone who hasn’t raced before, it’s a 5K race that’s free to enter you just need to register beforehand. It’s not too far from the park so we’ll head back there afterwards for the usual coffee and scones.

I’ll send out more info closer to the date, but put it in your calendar 🙂 There’ll be a run on as normal in the park for anyone who’s not attending.

Wicklow Way Relay 2016

Wicklow Way Poster 2016We are looking to see if we can get a DFR team for the IMRA Wicklow Way Relay ( on Saturday, 21st May. It is an ambitious challenge – it involves running a relay team from Dublin to Carlow on 127km of trails through Wicklow Mountains. Expect lots of great scenery and a fun chatting to all the other teams taking part. There are a variety of relay legs from 8km to 21km – all fairly hilly (but some hillier than others). We plan to organise a taster trail group jog on 20 February, let us know if you’re interested.

Rock n Roll 2015

Rock n Roll Half Marathon

This Sunday is the Half Marathon, for anyone in the club running here are the logistics.

  • You need to collect your number at the Expo in the RDS Friday or Saturday
  • You need to bring a confirmation form (you should have been emailed this) and photo ID
  • Race starts at 8:30am from near 3 Arena, there’s a bag drop and bags will be transported to the finish line

Meeting point for DFR’s running the race will be the statues (bears/mice) at the 3 Area at 8am, you’ll need to do your bag drop beforehand.

Anyone looking for a DFR singlet let me know and I will bring them tomorrow, I won’t have any on Sunday.
