Due to the Great Pink Run in the park on Saturday, we’ll be moving our start location to the Visitors Centre car park, there are road and gate closures and the park will be busy so leave extra time to get there.
Last Saturday was the 10 mile from the Dublin Race Series, it was an extremely wet and windy day, well done to everyone from DFR who got out to run, and the supports too.

Claire who many of you will know is going to cycle 650km over four days in early September to raise money for the Gavin Glynn Foundation, she’s doing this along with a number of RaboDirect colleagues, both Claire and RaboDirect are big supporters of the club so I hope you’ll consider sponsoring them.
On 21st October 2014, four year old Gavin Glynn lost his three year fight with an extremely aggressive form of Cancer known as Rhabdomyosarcoma. Gavin was a big fan of Superhero’s especially Superman. But he was our Superhero. His dad John worked in Rabobank in Ireland during this time and a number of fundraisers were held to support Gavin’s treatment to assist in his fight. Unfortunately most of the treatment had be sought outside of Ireland and was very expensive. After Gavin’s passing his family setup the Gavin Glynn Foundation to support other families in a similar situation who need to travel overseas for cancer treatment. The Foundation provides money to take the financial burden away from families so they can fully focus on the needs of their child. Sadly one of the children the Foundation was assisting passed away this week which makes raising money even more poignant and important.
To raise money for the Foundation a group from RaboDirect are planning a four day cycle from the most southerly point in Ireland to the most northerly point commonly referred to as the Mizen to Malin cycle (M2M). The total distance of the cycle is 650km with a few hills along the way.
Our aim is to raise €10,000 for the Gavin Glynn Foundation and your support is much appreciated and much needed at this point in time. You can donate using the following link: https://www.idonate.ie/fundraiser/11360379_mizen-2-malin-in-4-days-.html
Alternatively you can attend or provide raffle prizes for a Table Quiz that is taking place on Thursday, 29th September in the Hilton Hotel, Charlemont Place. 4 people per table, €10 per person. Your support would be hugely appreciated!!!
This Saturday is the Frank Duffy 10 mile in the park, so we’ll move our Saturday run to Irishtown Stadium. Usual time of 10 am meeting in Irishtown Stadium car park, we’ll go to Browns in Sandymount afterwards for food.
For the 10 Mile Race, DFR’s should meet at the Papal Cross car park at 9am for a few pictures, then head to he bag drop and start line.
Best of luck to everyone running 🙂
