DFR News 26th Oct 2013

Hi all,

Hard to believe it’s Dublin marathon time again.
We’ll meet at the usual spot this Monday 28th from 10.30 onwards, under the bridge at the Luas green line Milltown stop.
Watch out for our DFRs taking part:

Eugene
Kieran T
Philip
Sandra
Seamus McL
Seamus M
Seamus S
Shane
and don’t forget to bring a supply of jellies as they’ll be sorely needed by the runners at mile 18!
Good luck to all.
Track training/fartlek
There’ll be no track session in Donore Harriers this bank holiday Monday 28 Oct.  Normal service will resume Monday 4 November at 19.00.  This subsidised event is for registered DFR members only for insurance reasons.

Christmas party

Bookings are essential, so please reserve and pay for your place as soon as possible. It’s on Saturday 14 December in Brasserie66 and cost is E40 per head.  You may of course bring a partner.  First come, first served.
Winter Circuits/Pilates
We haven’t had much interest expressed in running this over winter.  If you would like to take part in a say a six week block session, please email Club Secretary Kieran Cooney at dfrsecretary@gmail.com.
If there are insufficient numbers, we won’t be going ahead with it.
New members
The club continues to grow – we’re now at a record 140 –  and I’d like to say fáilte to the following new members recently formally registered with the AAI:
Damien
Fran
John K
Karin
Lou
Richard
Rob
Steven
Happy Halloween!

Social Update

Social Night

It’s been a few weeks since we had a social event and I’m sure there are important running issues to discuss like the marathon or Kylie’s recent breakup, so we’ll go out for a few drinks this Saturday, the venue is Pantibar from about 9:30pm, hope to see you all there.

Christmas Party

We’ll be going to Brasserie Sixty6 this year, it’s booked for 6:15 pm and the cost is €40 payable in advance to any committee member or transferred to our club bank account, just remember to include your name on the reference and let us know you’ve transferred it.

It’s a set menu;

you’ll be charged for any drinks, etc on the night, and we will move on to a suitable bar afterwards to continue the partying.

Now all you have to do is pick out the Xmas outfit 🙂

Fartlek Winter 2013

Fartlek Training

Our winter Fartlek training kicks off this evening at 7pm, we have booked a number of weeks at the Donore Harriers track in Chapelizod, and depending on attendance and coaches, we will continue up until the end of November.

Anne Marie and Andy will look after the sessions, if you’re interested in running one yourself we’d be delighted just let us know, there are changing facilities available in the clubhouse if anyone wants to use them before or after training.

Parking is available but Donore have installed a barrier to manage access to the car park, we have a key fob but need to manage entry and exit, can you ensure you arrive before 7 pm if you need parking, training starts at 7 pm sharp.

There’s no cost to members for the training and no need to book, just turn up on the night.

Novice Cross Country 2013

Sunday last saw the Dublin Noice Cross Country and Dublin Frontrunners had 2 teams competing which is a fantastic turnout for the club.

It was a 2 lap 3km course for the girls and 4 laps 6km for the boys, we had some great results and though it’s a tough course everyone had a great day. We also had fantastic supporters from the club to cheer us on to the finish.
